Our next two concerts are on Friday 2 and Sunday 4 May
Friday 2 May 2025 | 7.30PM | St Mary the Virgin, Wingham, CT3 1BB
The Crypt Choir of The King’s School Canterbury is the senior choir of the school, singing weekly at Canterbury Cathedral. Directed by Will Bersey, the choir is renowned for its vibrant performances of timeless choral masterpieces. Recently, they took carol singing to new heights—literally—by performing on a rollercoaster at Chessington World of Adventures to launch the park’s Winter’s Tail event.
This special concert at St Mary’s is in support of Sounding Out, a charity providing music lessons to young people who otherwise lack access. Join us for an evening of music and a celebration of the transformative power of song!
Sounding Out is a community-focused music programme launched by The King’s School Canterbury in September 2019. It offers free orchestral instrument lessons to children from local primary schools, aiming to reverse the decline in classical music education among young people in the UK. Supported by the school and generous benefactors, the programme provides students with instruments to take home, along with necessary resources like sheet music and music bags. A typical session includes instrumental lessons and group musicianship classes. The initiative seeks to develop a thriving community music base, bringing together participants and King’s pupils to share the joy of making music.
